MEDICINE, ETHICS & JEWISH LAW
January 8-10, 2011, Copenhagen, Denmark
4th international congress organized by the Jewish community of Copenhagen

Congress Program | Registration & Accomodation | congress committee | Economic support

Welcome to Copenhagen

For the 4th time, the Jewish community of Copenhagen arranges a congress on Jewish medical ethics. It takes place from Saturday night January 8th, 2011 to Monday night January 10th, 2011. The location is the Scandic Hotel, Vester Søgade 6, DK-1601 Copenhagen V. Phone +45 33 14 35 35 - very close to the center of the city and in walking distance to the synagogue (orthodox).

The congress is open to everyone, and the language is English. Although one may think, that only physicians, dentists, nurses, lawyers and rabbis should participate, the topics and the level of the congress make it possible to participate whatever may be the educational background.

The world has changed, Europe has changed and the Jewish world has changed. Religion means more in the day-to-day medicine than only 15-20 years ago, and the physician may meet patients with various religions. Therefore, part of the congress is a symposium on inter faith religious ethics. There will be participation by representatives from the Lutheran church, the Catholic church, Islam and Judaism. These are the religions most often met by Western doctors.

Both in Germany and in Denmark World War 2 and the medical establishment have been examined.

The congress comprises two lectures on this topic. The congress starts just after Shabbat, so our guests staying in Copenhagen already from Friday will upon request b invited to eat in strictly kosher homes during Shabbat.
