Summer Program in Medical Halacha at the Schlesinger Institute

Dear Everyone,

General reminders:
#61553; Date/time of arrival: Whoever did not update me: Please let me know when you will be arriving (date, time, flight number) and a number at which you can be contacted (if available). Please call me (you can buy a calling card at the airport) to let me know that you arrived in Israel and we will arrange a time to hand over the apartment keys (and show you the exact location).

#61553; Location: The Schlesinger Institute is located in the Nursing School building on the extreme right side of the Shaare Zedek campus.

#61553; Apartments are available from Thursday June 27th until Sunday July 27st. Beds, pillows and blankets will be provided. We ask you to please bring your own linen and towels.
Boys: : Housing is on Bayit Vegan neighborhood right next to the Shaare Zedek complex, 5, Yosef Hachmi St. flat no. 1. Refrigerator, microwave and stove are available.

Girls: Nursing School dormitories 7th floor (above The Schlesinger Institute). Refrigerator and microwave included.
The apartments will be signed with a welcome sign which will be easier to recognize.


#61553; Classroom & Lectures: Classes/shiurim are between June 28th – July 26th and will take place in our lecture room at the human resources classroom, 5th floor of the main building of Shaare Zedek Medical Center. Except for few day which you will have an announcement where the lectures will take place.
#61553; At Wednesday June 28th everyone should be at the Schlesinger Institute at 8:45 a.m.
#61553; The group Shabbat will take place at 20-22 of July in the north of Israel.

#61553; Tuition: Tuition covers classes, housing, trips, group Shabbat, and hot lunch at Shaare Zedek (kosher Badatz). Students provide their own breakfast and dinner – there is a possibility of buying breakfast and dinner tickets at the dining room of Shaare – Zedek. If any of you intends to eat at the Shaare – Zedeks dining room at Shabbat – please let me know.
Whoever did not pay or discuss with me about the payment issue – please do so in the next few days.

#61553; Insurance: Students are asked to organize their own travel and medical insurance.
#61553; Mail: All letters should be sent to: c/o The Schlesinger Institute, Shaare Zedek Medical Center, P.O. Box 3235, Jerusalem 91031, Israel.
#61553; Internet: email access will be available at The Schlesinger Institute after class.
#61553; Laundry: Laundry facilities on campus (at students’ own cost).
#61553; Dress code: Decent dress is required during classes as some of the lecturers are Rabbis. Bring clothes and shoes that can get wet during tiyulim!!!!
#61553; Sun block and hats: Very important to bring, as the sun here is strong.
#61553; Bus pass: A monthly bus pass costs 220 NIS (about $50 US) and you can use it all over Jerusalem.

#61553; Cell-phones and public phones:
Cell phones: All Israeli cell-phone providers have shops in town that rent out phones. (I told you about a deal you can make with a company at the US)
Public phones are available on several locations on the Shaare Zedek campus.
