What is PerioChip?

PerioChip is a Chlorhexidine Gluconate chip that kills the bacteria that caused your gum disease PerioChip is a small, orange brown, rectangular chip (rounded at one end) for insertion into periodontal pocket. It contains a substance, which is effective in killing bacteria in the gum (2.5 mg Chlorhexidine gluconate).

After scaling, PerioChip is inserted into the pocket and the active ingredient takes effect in killing the bacteria. The chip itself dissolves naturally; hence there is no need for an additional visit to the dentistry to remove it.

It is recommended to attend a follow-up visit after three months to check whether any further treatment is required. Following a treatment with PerioChip you may maintain your regular oral hygiene and dietary habits.

Through the medical literature, PerioChip has proved to enhance the results of the professional tooth cleaning by 2 folds. In a clinical trial, twice as many patients had a significant pocket depth reduction when they were treated with PerioChip vs. the professional cleaning alone. The effectivness of PerioChip has been clincally evaluated over a two year period and has shown better results than routine maintenance therapy without it.
