Hi,
I have graduated medical school and will begin my residency next
week. I will be required to go to the hospital on Shabbat. Can you please
tell me the best way to get to the hospital. By taxi (driven by goy) or
driving myself. Also what is the halacha about coming home from the
hospital on shabbat in order to go to shul and have a shabbat meal with my
family. Does is make a difference if the majority of patients are
Jewish? Please include a sephardic opinion if you have one available
Thank you,
You are allowed to get to the hospital by a taxi driven by a goy, but all the money arrangement should be carried before or after Shabbat.
Under this condition, you are allowed to return home by the same procedure.
Can you recommend articles that would have a discussion — in English — regarding Halacha and artificial food and hydration in a terminally ill patient…but
