a married couple have both tested positive for the cystic fibrosis gene, which would mean high chances of having such a baby. In the event of pregnancy can one abort if the baby is found to be cf, this can be determined before 30 days, also can they use the ivf method for pregnancy.

The couple is allowed to use, the PGD (Pre Gestational Diagnosis) with the IVF procedure in order to prevent the birth of a baby with C.F
If diagnosis of a C.F embryo is done early enough, so as to perform termination of pregnancy before the 41st day after conception, it is allowed.
Later – it is a known Halachick controversy regarding termination of pregnancy when there is no life threatening condition for the mother.
