Hi There
My wife is due to have a baby and her due date has just passed. Her obstetrician is prepared to wait 7-10 days for an induction. Her past obstetric history includes a caesarian section and a successful trial of scar after this.Other medical conditions of relevance are moderately severe carpal tunnel syndrome which is giving her significant pain at night and not allowing her to sleep much.Is there a preferance to wait the full 10 days before an induction and try and manage her pain?
Yours sincerely
M F

As we could never have the the complete medical information related to specific cases, we cannot give any specific medical advice in the format of our IRP

Follow-up Question:
Thank you
I was not asking for medical advice.Medically her obstetrician was happy to wait anywhere between 7-10 days post full term.Is there a halachic preferance to wait the full 10 days and try to avoid induction??
Thanks
M F
If it is clear that there is no medical preference, I advise to follow Chaza"l in that the day of "term" is 271 days from conception, which is 5 days after the end of the 40th medical week.
[It seems to me the regular medical term is an average number which indicates not only healthy fetuses but also pathologic cases. Some of the pathologic fetuses may have an earlier term average]
