Should a convert to Judaism who underwent a vasectomy years prior to the conversion seek to have it reversed since this is not an accepted for of birth control for Jews? The person in question is forty-eight years old.
It is recommended that the man in question undergo reversal of the vasectomy. The principal reason is that without reversal of the vasectomy he will only be allowed to marry a woman who is also a convert. However, if he undergoes successful reversal surgery then the above restriction will no longer apply.
