Hello.
I work in paediatrics and was hoping to get some advice.
I had a problem recently with a hasidic child who required an emergency exploration for possible testicular torsion. While consenting to the op., it became obvious that the parents were not happy with our standard policy of exploring and fixing the other side as well. They said that there is some halacha that could become problematic with marriage in the future.
I was not aware of this rule and was hoping that you may be able to enlighten me?
thanks
Dr M.G.
I am not aware of such a problem and, on the contrary, since torsion of the testis can become dangerous, fixation of both testis is permissible.
