Hi,

  I'm a medical student at Einstein (frum) in America.  I realize that I may need at one point to take a residency that will make me work on Shabbos.  I want to be equipped with knowledge of what I can or can't do.  Which book would the Shlesinger institute recommend?

תשובה:

There are numerous books on Medical Halacha of Shabbos. Among the classics are: Shemiras Shabbos K'hilchasa (in Heb. and Eng.) and Lev Avraham (Heb.) by Prof. A.S. Avraham. Very helpful is also: Guide to Traditional Jewish Observance in a Hospital, by Rabbi Jason Wiener.
