I am aged 73. In January 2013 I had a CVA and still today I receive rehabilitation therapy. I asked my family doctor (not dati) if I should fast on Yom Kippur. He advised me to fast until about 2pm, then have a light meal and take some important medication, namely Plavix 75mg, Vector 80mg and Amoldipine 8mg. What is your opinion?
Best Wishes
There is no reason why you should not fast. Regarding your medication, the plavix you can miss out for one day, the other two you should swallow without water.
If that is difficult, start practicing today to swallow them without water.
If still impossible, weigh 40 grams of water, mark the height and on YK and drink the minimum amount that you need to swallow the tablets and no more.
After 14:00, if you feel weak, you can drink 40 cc of liquids every 9 minutes (at least) so as not to get dehydrated, a situation that could exacerbate the clotting problem.
